THE final shop in a small retail development at Lydiard Fields has opened its doors.

Londis has joined Greggs, Subway and a Drive-Thru Costa to complete the site which caters for local businesses and residents.

Independent retailer Ben Simons and his wife Sarah partnered with Londis to open the store on Friday.

It is just off Junction 16 of the M4 and is hoping to be as successful as its neighbours, as the site’s Subway restaurant is one of the top in the country.

Ben and his team celebrated the opening by bringing the Christmas spirit to the store, offering all those who work or live nearby a chance to try out some wines, beers and ciders.

Father Christmas was also on hand to dish out sweets to children, and anyone who spent £5 got a free box of mince pies.

Ben said: “I hope people visit the store. We’ve designed it so those with busy lives can pop in and find what they need for a quick snack, a healthy lunch or the evening meal.

“From our fresh range to our wine and beers selection we’ve tried to think about what people nearby would want from a shop.”

The store is open Monday to Sunday from 6am to 9pm.
