A ceremony was held to lay a foundation stone at a new care home being built in Devizes.
The £5.5 million care home, on the former Bureau West site in Horton Road, will be run by the Orders of St John Care Trust (OSJCT) and will replace Anzac House, in Moonrakers, and Southfield care home in Victoria Road, Devizes, both run by OSJCT.
The 80-bed home will provide 48 beds for long term residential dementia care and 32 beds for specialist nursing care.
The large single bedrooms will each have en suite shower and toilet facilities and access to digital TV, telephone and Wi-Fi, as well as a 24-hour nurse call facility.
The home will also have a shop, cinema, tearoom and hair salon. The first floor has access to a secure outdoor terrace area.
The home, as yet un-named, is being built by Stepnell Construction Ltd/Brackley Investments and will be open in late 2014.
Andrew Cheesbrough, OSJCT’s chief executive, said the home would be a great asset to the local community.
