WILTSHIRE council leader Baroness Jane Scott, who shares her time between county hall and the House of Lords, has been named 39th in a list of 100 most influential people working in the public sector.

The Local Government Chronicle put Simon Stevens, chief executive of NHS England at top of the poll which included four women in the top ten.

Baroness Scott said: "“I do this job because I am passionate about Wiltshire, and I want to make a positive difference to our local communities. As a member of the House of Lords I make sure that Wiltshire has a voice on the national stage.

“I see this recognition from the LGC as not just an honour for me personally, but for my cabinet and council staff who work so hard for the people of Wiltshire. I am proud to represent them as leader of a council that has been recognised nationally for its achievements.”
