BOMB disposal experts were called to Royal Wootton Bassett today after a hand grenade was discovered at a popular park.
The Second World War bomb was found at Jubilee Lake, which is currently undergoing work to combat erosion.
Sgt Louis McCoy tweeted: “Thankfully inert, but all the right precautions put in place.”
Royal Wootton Bassett Town Clerk Johnathan Bourne said it was uncovered by grounds staff who were doing some maintenance.
“They did absolutely the right thing. They called the police and alerted them to the situation. It is better to be safe than sorry.”
