POLICE are appealing for witnesses after a cyclist was taken to hospital with serious head injuries following a Trowbridge road traffic collision.
The 48-year-old man, who has not yet been named, was rushed to Southmead Hospital in Bristol after being involved in a collision with a van this morning.
The collision happened at 6.48am on the A361 Hilperton Road, close to the junction with Stancomb Avenue and closed the road for four hours.
Two cyclists were travelling together out of Trowbridge, when, for reasons yet to be established, a white Ford Transit van made contact with one of them.
The rider, a 48-year-old local man, suffered serious head injuries and was taken to Southmead Hospital by land ambulance. The second rider was not injured.
The road was closed while investigation and recovery work took place and re-opened at 11am.
Anyone with information is asked to contact police on 101 or anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
