A TROWBRIDGE man who has been commended for his volunteering efforts is limbering up for his annual sausageathon where he lovingly prepares yards of hand-made sausages to sell for charity.

Since the 1980's, Andrew Steele, 71, has raised thousands for charity Mission Aviation Fellowship, who fly medical relief and treatment to vulnerable people, after his dear friend Joy Bath died of an AIDS related disease while helping as a midwife for women in Africa.

Around 32 yards of Dr Steele’s now famous bangers are sold at St John's Summer Fete in Trowbridge, bringing in big funds for the charity.

Dr Steele said: "It’s lovely to tell my grandchildren about MAF when they come over to help prepare for the fete."

The fete will be held on June 23 from 2pm at St John's Church Hall.
