WEAPONS were seized after police raided houses in County Road and Cricklade Road today.

Following intelligence that class A drugs were being supplied in the area, warrants were carried out at the homes.

Six men and one woman were detained there to allow for searches to be carried out.

A number of mobile phones were found and police say the cell data from them will be examined. Two Samurai swords and two air rifles were also seized from the addresses.

One woman, aged 30, from Swindon, was arrested for an outstanding warrant and was taken in to custody at Gablecross.

PC Jamie Brown said: “The warrants were conducted on the back of intelligence received from the local community and our enquiries will now continue.

“We’d like to reassure local people that reporting suspected drug activity in your area is really important as it helps build up an intelligence picture which could be crucial to our investigations.

“We know that drug supply is often associated with violence and knife crime, and we take incidents of this nature extremely seriously.

“If you suspect drug activity in your area, please provide police with as much information as possible. This information will be treated in the strictest confidence and will help us disrupt crime that impacts negatively on your community.”
