THE people of Highworth had their pleas heard as Swindon councillors voted to accept proposals for a new Aldi.
The decision was made last night at Swindon Borough Council’s office in Euclid Street.
A petition signed by 972 Highworth residents was brought to the planning meeting with councillors and Aldi’s agent of planning putting their case to the floor.
There were over 25 residents of the town who turned up in support of the notion.
Highworth mayor Julia Bishop said: “We are really chuffed about the result last night.
"The town is over the moon.
“I truly could not see why there was any objections in the first place."
