Oktoberfest is coming back to Swindon.

The County Cricket Grounds will be transformed into a little bit of Bavaria again this autumn when the two-day festival returns.

A huge marquee in the grounds will play host to what is, in essence a Munich bierkeller. The bar will be serving the huge foaming steins of German beer – there’ll be pretzels and bratwurst to soak it all up, and a traditional oompah band will entertain, and lead the singing.

Last year was the festival’s first visit to Swindon. More than 3,500 people packed the 50-meter long marquee last October.

It went so well that organisers at the time were already making plans to return, and they are thrilled to be bringing it back to the town.

In honour of the original held in Munich (weirdly enough, starting in September) attendees will be encouraged to dress up in lederhosen or dirndl to really get into the spirit of the occasion.

Swindon Oktoberfest will be on at the County cricket grounds on County Road on Friday 12 and Saturday 13th October.
