A CARE home maintena-nce officer had his head shaved for charity on Tue-sday (Sept 25) to support his wife.

Fifty-five year-old Ian Heath volunteered to have his hair shaved off to raise funds for the Macmillan cancer charity.

His wife, Kim, is battling Hodgkin’s Lymphoma, a type of blood cancer that affects the development of white blood cells. The abnormal B-lymphocytes cluster together in the lymph nodes, leading to lumps.

Ian, 55, of Wyke Road, Hilperton, works alongs-ide Kim at the Trowbridge Oaks care home in West Ashton Road where hairdresser Linda Coles wielded the electric clippers.

He’s hoping to raise £500 for the charity and said: “I wasn’t worried. It will all grow back by Christmas. I used to be quite vain when I was younger but not any more.”

Kim, who is the care home’s receptionist, was diagnosed in April and is being treated at the RUH in Bath.

She said: “Ian has been brilliant. I’m really proud of him.”
