THE Rotary Club of Calne were delighted with the public response when they organised a street collection to supply water survival boxes to the people of Indonesia.

The recent earthquake and tsunami has caused devastation to the country, particularly around the area of Palu, with many people having lost not only their homes and livelihood but many friends and relatives.

With the generous support of Calne shoppers £500 has been raised. This will enable at least three boxes to be sent out to Indonesia, with many other Rotary clubs throughout the world also giving support.

Calne Rotary Club are also involved in welcoming Dorothy House CEO John Davies to give a talk at Calne Town Hall on Saturday, October 27, 12.30-2.30pm on his One Man and His Dog journey.

He will talk about Dorothy House’s new strategy Everyday, Everyone. President Sue Peskett would welcome anyone who would like to come along to this event or like to learn more about the Rotary Club of Calne - contact her at president@calnerotary.org.uk.
