GOLFERS from Oaksey Park Golf Club, near Malmesbury, have begun to hand over part of the impressive £3,600-plus raised at the Captains Day in September to their chosen charities.
"It was a really good day and I was pleased to do so well," Captain Dean Hammersley said. "As well as the golf we had an auction and raffle with excellent lots and prizes."
Mr Hammersley and ladies captain Sandra Lee have now visited Riding for the Disabled groups at Coates, near Cirencester, and Abingdon to hand each an £800 cheque.
"We were staggered and so impressed by the work these groups do, and the amount of effort volunteers put into them," Mr Hammersley, of Minety, explained. "Next week we will be presenting money to the Wiltshire Air Ambulance as well."
On the Captains Day 60 players enjoyed a Texas Scramble played in fine weather, with the winning team being Fore Right and the runners-up Dude Where's My Par.
Nearest the Pin was won by Sandra Lee and Straightest Drive by Phil Reynolds.
