SWINDON Town FC's Football in the Community Trust may have to do more work to prevent flooding at its upgrade of the community sports facilities next to the Robins' County Ground.

The trust has written to planners at Swindon Borough Council to say it has fulfilled three of the conditions laid down when it was given permission in March to build a new 3G pitch and a pavilion and car park at the site near the Magic Roundabout.

The trust had to make show it had made suitable plans for construction traffic, had made improvements to nearby road junctions and put in suitable plans to make sure water drained form the site and didn't flood nearby areas.

But the Lead Local Flood Authority, part of the council, has written to the planning department at the council saying the trust hasn't shown its drainage plans to be sufficient.

The letter said that the trust needs to get confirmation from Thames Water that its plans would be able to cope with a water flow of five litres per second before approval.

The Trust wants to build the new all-weather pitch along with car parking and a pavilion on a grass playing filed between the main club stadium to the south and a cricket pitch to the West and athletics track and field to the north.
