AN ICE cream cake shaped like a Christmas pudding is among the sweet treats that can be bought with a click.

Family-run firm Rays Ice Cream is launching a new online shop ahead of the festive rush.

The company, which has shops in Old Town and Royal Wootton Bassett, says it will make it easier for their customers to make sure they get what they want.

That might include a towering Christmas pudding ice cream cake, shaped and flavoured like a plum pudding - and complete with a sprig of holly and ivy made out of icing. Costing £20, Rays says the cake serves eight to 10 people, or one very greedy Father Christmas.

Rays is also making its popular reindeer poo ice cream in the fortnight to Christmas Day. The tubs of vanilla ice cream are dotted with chocolate chips, representing the reindeer droppings.

Hadi Brooks, founder of Rays Ice Cream, said: "We thought introducing the ability to be able to shop online at a time and place convenient for our customers would make things easier for them.

"They can take their time choosing what they would like and for those living a bit further afield they’ll only need to make one trip to the shop.

"It also enables people to get their orders in early for things like Christmas items which makes things easier for everyone."

Demand has soared since Hadi and husband Dan opened their first shop in 2011.

Earlier this year, Rays announced it would be moving its ice cream making production to a new purpose-built industrial kitchen in West Swindon.

In April, Hadi said: “We’ve simply run out of room in the Old Town shop. In 2017 we opened our second shop in Royal Wootton Bassett and started supplying all of the ice cream for Desserts and More at The Crossing in the Brunel Centre.

“We just haven’t got enough space to make and store enough ice cream.”
