A BBC challenge for Children in Need will be passing through Royal Wootton Bassett in two weeks’ time.

The One Show’s Rickshaw Challenge is a 423-mile route taken by six inspiring young people on custom-made rickshaw bikes from November 8-6.

The ride will leave from Calais to get to Ashford in Kent on day one, it will reach Royal Wootton Bassett at the end of day four, on November 12, and finish in Salford at the BBC studios after eight days.

Riders include Abbey, 16, from London who was diagnosed with non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma in 2015 and endured six rounds of chemotherapy before taking part in a trial of stem call therapy and going into remission.

She benefitted from the project Teens Unite which runs workshops for young people after being diagnosed with cancer.

Matt Baker, The One Show and Countryfile presenter, who will be joining the ride, said: “BBC Children in Need is a charity incredibly close to my heart and I once again want to ask everyone across the UK to get involved and show their support.

“Together we can make an impact on the lives of young people across the UK who really do need our help, so come on everyone, do your thing for BBC Children in Need.”

Children in Need launched its official fundraising campaign this month for its 39th Appeal Show which will air live on Friday, November 16.
