ONE man and his dog - also known as Dorothy House CEO John Davies and trustee springer Myrtle - called in at Calne as part of his 180-mile charity walk.

John was raising awareness of the charity, which offers compassionate care and support for people a life-limiting illness. From October 17 until November 2, his tour covering the length and breadth of the 700 square mile area served by Dorothy House. Calne was one of 20 towns he visited across Wiltshire, Bath and North East Somerset and Somerset. People were invited to join John as he walked.

John hoped to engage with as many current and future supporters as possible to share the charity's new 2018-2025 strategy, called Everyday, Everyone. He also raised more than £4000 - and donations are still open.

Joint president of Calne Rotary Club said:

"We as a team had a fabulous day and enjoyed meeting old friends and new.

"The walk to Chippenham with John Davies, Myrtle plus three other canine friends, was beautiful and such great fun to share it."
