AN UNLUCKY angler was shocked when he discovered that burglars had stolen fishing equipment from his garage - again.

Kyle Ackerman of Gorse Hill had just replenished some of the £7,000 of rods and tackles that was taken from him in July when criminals struck again and took £300 of other equipment.

He said: "I don't keep expensive stuff in the garage any more, just bait and buckets, so I was surprised that someone would bother to steal them.

"I just don't understand why they're did it - or how. There's no sign of forced entry this time and it's a lot to carry for one person.

"It's like they waited long enough for me to replace some of it before coming back.

"When I took the kids to school, I noticed that my son's fishing kit was missing, then saw that the other equipment in the garage had gone too.

"I'm worried that next time, they might break into the house, and my wife is panicking a bit.

"When I'm out night fishing or loading equipment into my car, I'm more wary and alert now.

"It's just more money down the drain, but I won't let this deter me from fishing."

Burglars first targeted Kyle on July when they nabbed fishing equipment which he’d collected over several years.

Then, between 11pm on Sunday October 21 and 6am the next day, offenders broke into the garage again and stole fishing gear worth £300.

Kyle added: "The weird thing is that my friends and I have been looking and looking for any of my old equipment being sold online, but none of it has come up.

"I don't think they'll be caught. No matter how safe you think you are, you have to make it safer - add trackers, keep it locked away."

Wiltshire Police are investigating. PC Jo Field said: “We’d like to speak to anyone who may know about this latest break-in and we’d be particularly keen to hear from anyone who may have seen these items for sale.

“Perhaps you have been offered such equipment for a price which seems too good to be true.

“If you can help in any way, please contact me on 101.”
