Officers investigating an assault on a 60-year-old woman in a car park in Trowbridge are keen to hear from any witnesses.

At 5.30pm on Saturday (November 10), a 60-year-old woman had gone to buy groceries in Budgens, Hackett Place, parking next to a white Transit van in the car park to the right of the Chinese takeaway.

When she got out of her car, a woman who was sat in the passenger seat of the van got out and started accusing her of damaging the van.

She then punched the woman to the face causing an injury to her lip which bled heavily.

The woman got back in the van and they drove off.

PC Scott Ranachan said: “This incident happened at a very busy time and the car park was busy so it is very likely someone would have seen something that could help with our enquiries.

“Understandably, the victim was really upset and shocked by this incident and says she couldn’t comprehend why this happened to her.

“I’m keen to hear from anyone who was in the area who saw a white Transit van. The driver of the van is described as a white man, with dark hair which had grey flecks. The woman is described as white, with long blonde hair, aged in her early 30s."
