Classical Brit Award winners Blake performed a sell-out concert at Malmesbury Abbey, raising £11,500 towards vital patient care at Dorothy House.

Organised by the North Wiltshire Friends of Dorothy House, the concert attracted an audience of 350. The programme included a repertoire of well-known songs such as Moon River, Chasing Cars, Nimrod, Jerusalem, and Leonard Cohen's Halleluiah.

Classical and pop group Blake’s performers included singers Ollie Barnes, Humphrey Berney and Stephen Bowman as well as talented guest pianist Dominic Ferris, who played several solos during the concert and accompanied Blake throughout.

Ollie Baines, a founding member of Blake, grew up in Little Somerford near Malmesbury and his parents came to support the event.

Soon after forming in 2007, the group secured a major-label record deal with their debut album, which hit the top of the UK Classical Album chart and pop charts and then scooped top award at the Classical BRITs, only the second debut album to have won the title.

Phillippa Watson, philanthropy manager at Dorothy House Hospice Care said: “Our thanks to Blake and to the North Wiltshire Friends Group for a stunning evening of entertainment.

"Blake’s performance was sublime and offered an incredible variety of songs and wonderful musicality. We are so grateful to all involved for the impressive sum raised to fund patient care and support for families and carers.”

Rebecca Whitworth, from the North Wiltshire Friends of Dorothy House said: “We are delighted that the concert was such a great success. The music was truly uplifting and it was gratifying to see the beautiful Malmesbury Abbey filled with local people raising money for such a well-deserving cause.”
