POLITICS: There was brief excitement at a meeting of South Swindon Parish Council on Tuesday evening, as a firework exploded yards from where councillors were holding their monthly meeting.
The explosion could be seen and heard from the Broadgreen Community Centre shortly after 6.30pm. All that remained of the firework was a casing left on Salisbury Street.
Another firework was let off on Manchester Road at around 7.30pm.
Wiltshire Police said neither event had been logged with officers.
