TREES have been planted near Ramsbury Airfield in memory of those lost at war.

Donated by the Woodland Trust, the trees were planted during a service held on Saturday where wreaths were laid, prayers were made and a minute silence was held.

A Wing Commander also laid his own wreath against a remembrance tree.

Claire Costello, former Froxfield parish councillor, who helped to organise the service said: "Thank you to all those who came and planted trees for Remembrance and making Saturday 10th November a memorable day.

"With special thanks to Peter Wilson, the landowner, The Revd. Canon Simon Weeden for leading the Remembrance Service in the wood, and Wing Commander J Parsons for laying the wreath."

One guest said: "It was so beautiful in the woods, especially when we first arrived in the sun shine, and it was amazing how quickly the overall planting was done which was just as well, the way the weather turned out.

"Great to see lots of families and children involved.

"The prayers, bugle, and minute’s silence were all very moving in the particular surroundings.

"A wonderful remembrance legacy that I hope will be appreciated and a place for reflection for many years and generations to come."
