A MEMORY tree has been put up by the Bath Cancer Unit in honour of a former volunteer whose family presented the cause with a cheque after donations were collected at her funeral.
Anne Marie Hunt was a popular volunteer who regularly helped out with fundraising for the Bath Cancer Unit, and donations were made to the cause at her funeral, totalling £2,730, which will be put towards new equipment at the unit.
The memory tree was launched in Mrs Hunt’s memory in Castle Place, and people can donate £1 and write their wishes on a blue butterfly which is hung on the tree.
Chairman of the cancer support group in Trowbridge, Tino Polledri, said: “We were honoured to be given the cheque after donations were made at Anne’s funeral, she was so popular and I’ve never seen the church so packed out.
“Anne was very active in helping out at the cancer unit, and she was a very hopeful person.
“Lots of people have been getting involved with the memory tree which is great to see and it’s great support for the Bath Cancer Unit as well.”
