MORE than 130 people gathered at the STEAM Museum to celebrate the hard work and dedication of Swindon Borough Council’s foster carers.
Organised by the council’s fostering team, the evening saw carers enjoy a meal and an awards presentation, with music performed by a live band.
The Mayor of Swindon, Coun Junab Ali, opened the event. His colleague, Coun Mary Martin, cabinet member for children’s services and school attainment said she enjoyed seeing foster carers receiving some much-deserved kudos for their valuable work.
She said: “This was a lovely evening and a great way to show our appreciation for everything our foster carers do.
“Their dedication, resilience and inspiring attitude all year round deserves to be celebrated and recognised at events such as these and I’m thrilled with how the evening went.”
The council is still looking for more foster carers to provide care and support to children and young people in Swindon.
Anyone who would like to find out more about taking on the role can visit the council’s website www.swindon.gov.uk/fostering for information.
