A boy of just 15 was stopped driving by police after they spotted his car was held together by rope.

The under-age driver was caught behind the wheel after police spotted the silver Ford KA at around 6pm on July 8 driving past police HQ on London Road in Devizes. An officer on patrol noticed the rope hanging around one of the front wings of the car.

The car was pulled over and the officer discovered the male driver, who had driven from Pinehurst in Swindon, to be only 15-years-old.

On Wednesday the teenager from Swindon, appeared at Swindon Youth Court and pleaded guilty to driving without a licence and without insurance.

He was fined £100, had six penalty points added to his licence and has been ordered to pay court costs of £105.
