PARENTS and parish councillors were delighted to open a refurbished play area for residents in Clayhill Copse in Peatmore over the weekend.
West Swindon Parish Council spent £25,000 adding a new climbing frame, bucket swing, two large swings, and new all-purpose surfacing.
Linda Chivers, who has been a resident opposite the park for 24 years, said: “We’re really pleased that it's been upgraded
“My grandchildren had out grown out of it so I’m really happy. When they visit they love to come here.”
Parish councillor John Lenton said: “It addresses the needs of the local community. We try and cater for all ages and consult with the community what they think is appropriate for them.”
Councillor Caryl Sydney-Smith added: “So many kids need the exercise to get away from their computers. It’s nice to see them getting fresh air and using the outside areas. It costs a lot but it's worth it, before it wasn’t really being used.”
