A CROSSBOW was found in the car of a man arrested for drink-driving.
Swindon North Police said that they were called around 2am this morning after a Ford Focus had crashed into a set of traffic lights on Wootton Bassett Road.
When they reached the scene, the 30-year-old driver was arrested for driving over the alcohol limit.
Shortly afterwards the crossbow was found in the vehicle and the driver was further arrested for being in possession of an offensive weapon. Officers also found a bag of clothing believed to have been stolen.
A Wiltshire Police spokeswoman said: "A 30-year-old man from Swindon has been arrested on suspicion of driving while over the legal alcohol limit, possession of an offensive weapon and handling stolen goods. He is currently in police custody at Gablecross Police Station."
As part of the overnight operation, two vehicles seized for no insurance, and a car that failed to stop for police was abandoned.
