ROCKS were thrown at paramedics while they were trying to treat an ill patient in the town centre.

At around 12pm today, the ambulance team called the police for assistance after being assailed by the missiles which were being thrown from the top floor of the Whalebridge multi-storey car park.

Children fled the scene just as officers arrived.

PC Davis from Swindon South Police said: "This type of behaviour is completely out of order and will not be tolerated. Trying to assault those trying to help other in need is not acceptable. Do you know where your children are?"

UPDATE: Operation Dasher patrols have located the youths involved and PC Davies will be following up enquiries, according to police.
