AN 11-YEAR-OLD girl from Rodbourne had her first haircut in four years to support a children’s cancer charity.
Nellie Fuentes-Bell decided to donate the hair she had chopped off to the Little Princess Trust, where it will be made into a wig for youngsters with cancer.
Friends and family rallied round her to raise more than £500 - enough for the charity to pay for another wig.
Her mum Jenna Redmond said: “This was all her idea, I’m so proud of her, it’s such a kind and brave gesture.
“She was really excited and a bit nervous bout getting it cut and liked that she was helping others.
“She’s very pleased with how it turned out and grateful for all the support.”
Hairdresser Kelly Clarkson at the Pixal Rose salon cut Nellie’s hair for free.
King William School and the Railway Kids Youth Club, both of which Nellie attends, contributed to her good cause, as did the Baguette Bar in Old Town and the Victoria News newsagents.
Jenna added: “Everyone has been so generous and money is still coming in, which is great.”
