Are you looking to help a local charity but are worried you don’t have the time needed?

Guide Dogs are looking for someone to help collect funds from counter top boxes.

We have a number of boxes placed across the area in locations such as shops and restaurants. We need someone to be our volunteer Collection Box Coordinator and empty each box every 3 months. The role can be part of your daily life with boxes on routes you might already take.

It is very flexible and can be done at any time during the premises opening hours. Once the box is collected, you will need to pay in the raised funds with a book provided to you.

Jayne, a Collection Box Coordinator says, “Before I was born my grandfather lost his sight due to a head injury and whilst other immobility issues meant that he was not able to have a guide dog, our family have always supported the charity. When I retired I wanted to do more and decided to apply to be a volunteer counter box collector. It has been a real privilege to meet people who have had their lives changed so dramatically by their Guide Dog partnership and I am overwhelmed by the generosity of local people who donate so freely.”

People can also get involved with Guide Dogs in the community by joining their local Guide Dogs Support Group as a group member. These groups fundraise, campaign and promote the services of Guide Dogs within their area. Guide Dogs receive no government funding, and with each guide dog averagely costing the charity £50,000, the support of volunteers is highly appreciated.
