THE Pewsey based Wiltshire charity Home-Start Kennet has been awarded funding from the Henry Smith Foundation at their recent AGM.
The charity support struggling families, said the £150, 000 grant will fund a project which focuses on further developing its service in Devizes, Calne and Chippenham.
Last year, Home-Start Kennet supported 107 local families which included 216 children. Volunteers provide emotional and practical one to one support to families in their own home – increasing confidence, resilience and wellbeing.
Tania Rackham, of the charity said: “Thanks to the Henry Smith Foundation, we will be able to support even more families from areas that are showing increased need for our service.”
Devizes Mayor, Andy Geddes, Camilla Jequier (representing Claire Perry MP), the Army Welfare Service and Spurgeons Children’s charity were among those who heard the annual update from the Pewsey based charity.
Home-Start Kennet are keen to recruit volunteers to help with their work in helping families in Devizes, Pewsey, Marlborough, Calne, Chippenham and Tidworth. Call: 01672 569457 or email hskadmin@homestartkennet.co.uk for more information.
