WESTBURY Railway Station which was due to re-open for normal scheduled services at 4am this morning (January 4) following upgrading and improvement works is still closed.
The works to lay new track at Westbury North Junction closed the line between Trowbridge and Warminster and disrupted services over Christmas and the New Year and have now over run.
A spokesman from Network Rail said: "We sincerely apologise for the disruption passengers will experience today travelling to or from Westbury, Wiltshire.
"The major programme of work to upgrade track and signalling has not finished on time this morning owing to issues identified during the final stages of testing.
“We are doing all we can to reopen the railway and get people moving as soon as possible. We will provide further updates shortly but, in the meantime, advise passengers to check before they travel.”
