Devizes MP Claire Perry has spoken out against the harassment of MPs, after the subject hit the headlines when Anna Soubry was abused and insulted outside the Houses of Parliament on Monday.
Claire Perry said: "I have been absolutely appalled at the language being used against hardworking MPs and journalists.
"This kind of language and intimidation has no place in our society, and I call on all sides, regardless of your views, to debate and protest in a civilised and respectful way.”
Anna Soubry was insulted and called a liar and a Nazi during live television interviews on BBC News and Sky. The former minister, who is a supporter of a second Brexit referendum, was later called "scum" and jostled as she tried to re-enter the Palace of Westminster.
At least 115 MPs have called on police to improve their response to abusive protesters outside Parliament. and the Metropolitan Police say they are ready to deal robustly" with any instances of criminal harassment.
