A man accused of defrauding a scaffolding company is to face trial.

Paul House is said to have handed in time sheets for work done and also abused his position as contracts manager at the firm.

And he is also alleged to have stolen items from a supplier of hardware to the scaffolding industry.

But prosecutors have dropped money laundering charges against him and Nichola House, 50, weeks after also ending the prosecution of three others accused of fraud.

Paul, 52, pleaded not guilty to a charge of theft from Trad Hire and Sales Ltd, which is the supplier of poles and metalwork for the scaffolding industry.

He also denied fraud, alleging that between March 7, 2016, and March 20, 2017, he defrauded Royal Wootton Bassett first Combined Scaffolding Ltd.

It is said that he claimed he, Christopher House and Joshua House had been undertaking work for them and handed in time sheets.

And during the same dates it is alleged he abused his position as contracts manager at Combined Scaffolding Ltd.

It is said that he declined to tender for work with Redrow Homes Ltd on behalf of the firm and instead submitted a tender from House & Sons Ltd.

House, of Grange Drive, Stratton St Margaret, pleaded not guilty to the three counts when he appeared at Swindon Crown Court.

Judge Jason Taylor QC adjourned the case to April 23 and released him on bail.

Nichola and Paul had both been accused of acquiring criminal property in the form of £42,458 between March 7, 2016 and April 1, 2017, which will not be proceeded with.

In December the Crown offered no evidence against three other men – Joshua House, Christopher House and David Cook – accused of defrauding Combined Scaffolding Ltd.

They each faced two counts of fraud alleging they had claimed for work said to have been done by House & Sons.

Each of the trio pleaded not guilty to the charges and prosecutors said they would not proceed against them.

Nichola and Joshua, also of Grange Drive, Christopher of Cherry Tree Road, Cricklade and Cook, of Beech Avenue, Pinehurst, were all formally found not guilty.

Combined Scaffolding Ltd is based at Lanes Farm on Marlborough Road in Royal Wootton Bassett.
