GREEN-minded Calne residents took up fabric and sewing machine to make reusable cloth bags at the Tesco Showroom last week.

Called Morsbags, after designer Claire Morsman, the strong, washable bags for life are made from recycled fabric and help reduce single use plastic.

Judy Hallimond, who led the session, said they made around 20 bags during the day.

"The Mayor and Deputy Mayor of Calne also dropped by," she said.

"The bags will be on the Calne Springs table at the market in Phelps Parade on March 2. We are going to give them away."

The basic bag pattern can be accessed free on the internet and more than 300,000 Morsbags have been made from unwanted clothing such as shirts, curtains or tablecloths.
