TWO MEN from Swindon have been sentenced to a total of 9 years and 4 months for a number of drug offences.

Mohammed Yunus Ali, 24, and Mohammed Yusuf Ali, 20, both of Gladstone Street, were sentenced in Swindon Crown Court on Tuesday following their arrest in November.

On  November 4, officers attended the pair’s address as part of their enquiries in relation to an unrelated incident where they found herion, cocaine and cannabis.

Yunus Ali was located inside the address and was arrested, with Yusuf Ali  being arrested the next day.

Yunus Ali pleaded guilty to possession with intent to supply class A and B drugs and was sentenced to a total of six years and four months imprisonment.

Yusuf Ali pleaded guilty to the same offences and was sentenced to three years imprisonment.

Det Con Craig Rathbone said: “The quantity of drugs seized during this investigation was significant. The cannabis seized was valued at approximately £6,000, while the class A drugs seized from the address had a street value of more than £75,000. This amount of class A drug had the potential to do serious harm to a large number of vulnerable people within our community and is likely to have been associated with serious violence.

“The pair had been profiting from their criminality for some time, showing no regard for the vulnerable people at the end of the drugs supply chain.

“I am pleased that we have been able to intercept and dismantle this supply chain, preventing these class A drugs from reaching Wiltshire’s streets and into the hands of vulnerable users. I am also pleased that both individuals have been given custodial sentences for their actions.

Drugs have no place in our county – they can cause serious harm in our communities and we are dedicated to tackling the issue.”
