MARLBOROUGH’S answer to a future Annika Sörenstam or Tiger Woods may have been found when the town’s golf club issued three nominations for the junior award for 2018.

Jennifer Almond, 13, Finlay Mulvey’ 12, and Oscar Oliver, 12, were put forward for the Robert Hill Junior of the Year Award at Marlborough Golf Club.

The award is open to boys and girls under 18 and covers both their performance and improvement in playing the game as well as their contribution and conduct off the course during the year.

Jennifer Almond won The Alresford Cup for the south of England under 14s as well as wining the Junior Club Championship while Finlay Mulvey won the Broome Manor Junior Open and the Salisbury and South Wilts Junior Open.

But it was Oscar Oliver who won the award after judges selected him after he won the Cumberwell Park and has represented his club and finished in first place for the County Under 14s section.
