A SCHOOLBOY has scooped a national competition to create a character to go on fruit and vegetable snack packs sold in Lidl stores.
Nine-year-old Joe Thurstan from Watchfield won the prize after entering the competition with his entry Cucumbear and will now see his creation on packaging in stores.
Joe said: “I can’t believe that I won the competition and it is awesome to see Cucumbear on such a big billboard in Swindon, as well as on the packets of cucumber.”
Lidl launched the competition in partnership with children’s charity NSPCC to invite children across the country to create a design for the packaging of its Oaklands Fun Size snack tomatoes and cucumber packs. The company raised £250,000 for the NSPCC by donating 10p from the sale of every pack from its special range of fruit and vegetables for children.
Daniela Tulip, senior consultant at Lidl said: “We’re committed to promoting healthy eating and we hope that these fun new characters will make our Oaklands Fun Size range even more appealing to our younger customers.”
