FORENSIC ecologists have arrived at a police cordon near Highworth.

Wiltshire Police has put up a scenes of crime tent in fields off Pentylands Lane.

Asked if the incident was connected to murder victim Linda Razzell, the Highworth mother-of-four who disappeared in 2002, the force said it was keeping an open mind.

Experts wearing clothing with the logo of Alecto Forensics, a firm specialising in forensic ecology and archaeology, are currently at the scene together with police CSI officers. Their enquiries are currently focussed on a small patch of grassland beside an old hedgerow.

Around an acre of land has been cordoned off by police.

Last night, a spokesman for Wiltshire Police said: “People in the local area are likely to see an increased police presence in this area over the weekend. Our enquiries also include the use of police dogs.

“As these enquiries are at an early stage, it would be inappropriate to comment at further at this time.”
