DRYING cannabis leaves appeared to have been stashed in a tin of Quality Street and dumped on the roadside in a black bin liner.

The apparent class B drug find was made by parish councillor Toby Robson, who had opened the black bin bags in the hope of finding information about the culprit who had flytipped the waste.

There was little of quality about the yellowing hash leaves, which boasted a distinctive herbal scent.

Coun Robson said the spot on Prospect Hill where the bags had been left was notorious. Residents had complained countless times about tipped waste.

“This is just the latest example of a growing problem,” he told the Swindon Advertiser.

“Without any enforcement, people feel like they can act with impunity.”

Swindon Borough Council was approached for comment. Wiltshire Police said details would be passed to the area’s community coordinator.
