WILTSHIRE Police are investigating a knife-point robbery at a garage in Warminster at the weekend.

At approximately 8.30pm on Sunday, a man entered the Esso garage in East Street carrying a knife and demanded money from the cashier.

The cashier refused to hand over any money - the offender then grabbed the cashier's shirt to try and get him to open the till before fleeing the store, running off in the direction of East End Avenue.

He is described as white, aged between 30 and 40, of skinny build. He was wearing a grey hoody with the hood up and tightened around his face. He was wearing black trousers, white trainers and gardening-style plastic gloves.

Acting Det Sgt Rachel Winter said: "We attended the scene following the initial 999 call to conduct enquiries - understandably, the staff member was feeling very shaken up.

"We have obtained some CCTV images from the premises and our enquiries are ongoing.

"We'd urge members of the public to take a look at the image and the description of the suspect - although his face is hidden in the image, anyone who knows this individual may recognise him from the picture or from the clothing he is wearing.

"Did you see an individual matching this description in the area on Sunday evening? Any information you have could be significant in our investigation.

"Anyone with information should call 101 and quote crime reference number 54190026531. Alternatively, call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111."
