The family of a man who died in a collision near Broad Hinton have paid tribute to him.

Joe Hayward, aged 26, was driving a grey Peugeot 106, when it collided with a Chrysler Voyager on the A4381 northbound, on March 10.

He was born in Devizes, went to school in Trowbridge and lived in Swindon.

In a tribute, his family said: “Joe was born and grew up in Devizes, attending St Joseph’s Primary School and then St Augustine’s School in Trowbridge. He went on to complete a diploma in motor sport engineering at Lackham College and an apprenticeship with Audi in Swindon where he subsequently worked.

“Joe was a conscientious and considerate young man with a quiet charm and sense of mischief. He loved his family and friends and was often called upon to fix their cars in his spare time.

“He was highly regarded by his colleagues at Audi as a very competent technician. Cars were his great passion and he spent many hours restoring his collection of Peugeot 106s. He was a popular member of the Peugeot 106 owners club.

“He has a brother and sister and was soon to become an uncle for the first time. Joe will be missed by many.”

Police are still appealing for anyone with information about the collision, including anyone who has dash cam footage of either of the vehicles involved, to call PC John Armstrong from Tri-Force on 101, quoting log 224 of March 10. Alternatively you can call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
