Play areas in Trowbridge will be the responsibility of the town council from the start of the new financial year on Monday.

The council is expecting to receive £25,000 from Wiltshire Council by Monday, the second half of the £50,00 transfer fee which will allow them to take over play areas in the town.

Councillors are keen to make this a priority and keep the play areas maintained well.

A spokesman from Trowbridge Town Council said: “From April 1 we will responsible for all grass cutting, fences and hedges as well as maintenance of the equipment.

“We should then also receive maintenance money which will be placed in an earmarked reserve for future maintenance costs and drawn down each year.”

The town council is now awaiting the formal signing of the management agreement which is still with Wiltshire Council’s legal services department.
