WYLYE Valley Primary School joined 5 other schools from the Warminster and Westbury Schools Cluster for a Musical Extravaganza at The Minster Church in Warminster. While the other primary schools sang beautifully, Wylye Valley chose to showcase their young musicians.

Six of their young brass players joined musicians from Matravers and Kingdown secondary schools for a rendition of the theme tune from The Avengers. The ensemble only met that morning to practice but you would not have known it from the energetic and enthusiastic performance. “I loved it! It was so cool playing with different people” said Harry.

This was followed by the bell ringers, who performed 3 well-known tunes on the hand bells. Speed Bonnie Boat was particularly well played and accompanied by a trio of singers. "What an amazing performance, they really did the school proud, one of the standout performances setting the bar as high as ever," commented one parent.

Head of Music at Wylye Valley, Helen Thornton, said “I’m so pleased that our children were able to perform at this wonderful new event. I’m very proud of all of them and look forward to future collaborative events.”

It is clear that Wylye Valley Primary School value the benefits of music in the primary curriculum as they offer lessons in brass, guitar, piano and bell-ringing, and all children enjoy weekly class music lessons and whole school singing.
