AGE UK will officially take on the Toothill Community Centre on Friday, with South Swindon MP Robert Buckland cutting the ribbon at the centre's opening

Julian Kirby, chief executive of Age UK Wiltshire, said the charity was delighted to take over the centre on a five year lease.

He added: "It is our aim to breathe new life in to the centre, creating an asset for the local community, offering facilities to hire to a range of clubs, groups, and individuals. Over the coming months we plan to work with local organisations to introduce and develop activities that help alleviate loneliness and social isolation amongst the older population locally."

Refurbishment of the council-owned building has taken two months.

The centre will be officially opened by Robert Buckland on Friday, April 26, at 3pm.
