THIS week four decades ago an away fixture with Blackpool was all that stood between Swindon Town FC and promotion to the old second division.
Sadly, victory was not to be, but that didn’t prevent a small army of fans from enjoying the delights of the Lancashire resort.
Other stories included one about a woman who not only ran her own boutique but stocked it with clothes she designed.
A major comic of the era announced a Wyvern Theatre date, and another took some time out to visit the base from which he’d flown during service in World War Two.
