STAFF and students at St Laurence School in Bradford on Avon were treated to a visit and talk from author Geraldine McCaughrean.

Her book, The Middle of Nowhere, was chosen for St Laurence reads this year, a dedicated tutorial session in which students in all year groups read the same book.

Geraldine has written more than 170 books, published in 61 countries and her work has been translated into over 45 languages.

Katherine Allard from St Laurence School said: “Students were delighted to be given the opportunity to ask the author questions about the characters and plot motivations.

“Geraldine explained her route to becoming a writer and the inspiration behind some of her books.

“She shared her research methodology with the audience and to their awe, passed around her journal in which she logs her ideas among the students.”

Following her a talk, copies of books were signed.
