FAMILIES from all over Trowbridge are being encouraged to attend a free community event arranged by The Mead Primary School.
Tomorrow, parents, staff and children will be putting on the Trowbridge Community Festival, funded by a Big Lottery Community grant and organised by Friends of the Mead.
The event’s theme is citizenship and aims to celebrate the many different ways people can express themselves and the different things children and their families feel are important.
Head of school Emma Holton said: “We are looking forward to a wonderful day which bring our community together for lots of fun.
“Everyone is welcome to come to the event at the school and the event is all free.”
At 11.30am children from the school council, known as the school parliament will join Michelle Donelan MP and councillors David Cavill, Bob Brice and Steve Oldrieve and Simon Forsyth of Bradford Climate Friendly in a Question Time style panel hosted by UK Parliament teacher ambassador Rob Cunningham.
Questions posed by the children from the Mead, Castle Mead and River Mead school will cover all aspects of life from plastic pollution to local facilities for play.
At 1pm children who have made it though a series of auditions will compete in Trowbridge Has Talent with singing, dancing, comedy and even science acts. They are competing for a first prize of £50.
Outside in marquees, Circus Sensible will be performing free shows for families and running workshops as well as a range of stalls and activities run by children and their teachers, local charities and groups.
