A NEW assistant chief constable joins Wiltshire Police this week.
Mark Cooper joins the county force from Dorset, where he was a detective chief superintendent and has previously led investigations into terrorism, kidnap and major crime.
Asst Ch Const Cooper said: "I am absolutely delighted to be joining Wiltshire’s chief officer team and what I consider to be one of the best performing forces in the country.
"I have been hugely impressed with the professionalism and dedication of the officers and staff that work within Wiltshire Police, particularly during the demanding incident in Salisbury. I very much look forward to meeting and working with everyone very soon."
The senior officer was seconded to Wiltshire Police in January 2016 as an acting assistant chief constable.
He started full time with the Wiltshire force yesterday.
