PUPILS at a small primary school near Devizes are celebrating after winning the county netball finals.

Deputy head of Five Lanes Primary in Potterne Debbie Alvis was delighted with the team's performance in the competition held at Devizes School.

She said: "They were incredibly determined and played brilliantly as a team always supporting each other and listening to advice. They loved the whole event and never expected to win.

"All teams had to include three boys as well as six girls. Lots of parents and family members came to support us.

"Teams qualified from all over Swindon and Wiltshire - all the schools much larger than ours."

The team's road to victory started back in November when it won the first round in the Lavington and Devizes section and then went on to the second round at Sheldon School in March where Five Lanes won its group to qualify for the county finals which was held earlier this month.

Five Lanes won four of its matches and drew one in the group stages and then went on to play New Forest in the semi-finals and then beat Redlands from Chippenham 3-0 in the final.
