A PERVERT who paid a Filipino mum £25 to have her 10-year-old daughter sexually abused has been jailed.

Nigel Birch paid the woman in the Philippines to have her young daughters attacked by their older cousins.

He has been jailed for two years and eight months after he pleaded guilty at Swindon Crown Court to facilitating the commission of a child sex offence and making indecent images of children.

The discovery came after the 66-year-old’s bank account was found to have been used to make 172 payments to the Far East.

And when Birch, formerly of Swindon but now of Stroud, was confronted with the claims the father-of-two grown up daughters first claimed he had been sending the money to a woman to help her out of the sex trade.

But Skype logs on his computer showed he had set up the show where the woman’s children would be abused.

He then admitted he was funding the online displays and he was attracted to youngsters.

Nicholas Clough, defending, said his client was in a bad place at the time as his marriage was collapsing.

He said he never saw the child being abused and no-one knows if it took place as there was no evidence on his machine.

Since Birch’s arrest his wife had left him, he had had to move away, one of his daughters no longer speaks to him and he had lost his job.

He claimed he had been sending money to the woman to try and help her out of the industry.

Jailing him, Judge Jason Taylor QC said: “You obviously logged on for that show. It can’t be proved beyond doubt it took place.

“You made admissions, including that you derived sexual pleasure from what you saw on previous occasions.

“You said you had paid for shows on a dozen times even though you only got a return on about half of them.

“You are targeting people who are vulnerable because of their desperation and lack of money.

“There was a considerable disparity between your age and the age of the children being discussed.

“There is an element of commercial exploitation, as £25 would have bought you nothing in the UK.”

Judge Taylor imposed a sexual harm prevention order and he must register as a sex offender.
